LAS VEGAS — Well-rounded performances by rookie first-round selections Alex Sarr and Carlton “Bub” Carrington led the Washington Wizards to a comeback 94-86 victory over first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher and the Atlanta Hawks in an NBA 2K25 Summer League battle at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Friday night.
The Hawks opened the game in a manner that deceptively foreshadowed a dominant performance for Atlanta, as they emerged from the first quarter with a 23-14 lead. However, the Wizards chipped away over the middle periods, erasing their nine-point deficit altogether and forging a one-point advantage heading into the final quarter. The Hawks would battle back to take as much as a six-point edge with 5:19 remaining, but Washington would finish the game on a blistering 20-6 run to win going away.
Riscacher, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, led the Hawks with 18 points, to go with five rebounds, two assists and one block. Mouhamed Gueye furnished 16 points, four boards, one assist, three steals and one block. Dylan Windler delivered 12 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal. Miles Norris and Keaton Wallace contributed matching nine-point, four-rebound efforts, with Wallace recording six assists among his other contributions.
Carrington paced the Wizards with 19 points, adding nine boards, eight assists, one steal and one block. Justin Champagnie supplied 18 points, five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Sarr registered 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks and one steal. Johnny Davis matched Sarr’s scoring and added six boards, one assist, one steal and one block.
