Unpacking the Georgia Summer Nationals at Cordele Motor Speedway

– It was almost a near-perfect night for Bubba Pollard. The Senoia, Georgia driver won his fourth race of the 2024 ASA Southern Super Series season and second in a row at Cordele Motor Speedway. With the win, Pollard moved into second in the season points with one race to go. This is the first time Pollard has won four races in the series since 2018.

– Michael Hinde is knocking on the door for that first win and it might come at the next race. Coming into the season, his best finish was a fourth. This year alone he has improved on that with a third at Montgomery and a second in the Georgia Summer Nationals at Cordele Motor Speedway.

– After setting fast time, Casey Roderick moved into a tie for second all-time in the series for pole awards with seven. He and Matt Craig each have two Engine Builder Fast Time Awards this season and now they have seven overall in their careers.

– Speaking of Casey Roderick, despite a seventh-place finish in the final run down he has the championship trophy waiting for him in Pensacola. His sizable lead will allow him to take the green flag to win a record third ASA Southern Super Series title. The work will not be over at that point as he is battling for the Deep South Cranes Blizzard Series, he’s currently second to Stephen Nasse.

– What a run for Timothy Watson, who posted a career-best third-place finish at the Georgia Summer Nationals. It should come as no surprise as Watson’s other top five in the series came at Cordele in January of 2023.

– Jake Finch posted his third top-five run of the 2024 season and his sixth top-10 run of the season. The race is on who will be the next first-time winner in the series. Finch, Hinde, and Watson are all making good cases for themselves.

– Jett Noland added a sixth top-10 finish to his 2024 ASA Southern Super Series stat line after a solid run at Cordele. Noland will look to keep the ball rolling in the season finale at Five Flags on September 28th.

– Blaise Rutherford scored his first career top-10 finish after posting a ninth at Cordele Motor Speedway. Rutherford missed the show at Montgomery and was 16th at the next race at Five Flags in April.

– Washington state driver Tyler Tanner posted another top-five with the ASA Southern Super Series, but this was not his first. Tanner was a top-five car at North Wilkesboro Speedway back in 2022. So now he has a pair of top-five runs after his first start in the series in 2024.

– In case you missed it, the 2025 season will kick off with the 20th running of SpeedFest at Cordele Motor Speedway in Cordele, GA. This will again be a points race and the first event of the year for the ASA Southern Super Series. There will be a JEGS / CRA All-Stars Tour race before the Super Late Model event on the weekend of January 17th and 18th.
