Standout offensive efforts from Bennedict Mathurin and Isaiah Jackson spearheaded the Indiana Pacers to a 91-83 victory over the Washington Wizards in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Saturday.
The Pacers demonstrated the benefits of playing with an experienced roster by Summer League standards during a first half from which they emerged with a 51-29 lead, largely fueled by a dominant second period in which they outscored the Wizards by a 28-10 margin. The Wizards turned the tables during an impressive third quarter during which they enjoyed a 32-13 advantage, but Indiana managed to stay a step ahead over the final 10 minutes to squeeze out the eight-point victory.
Mathurin led the Pacers with 27 points, complementing them with five rebounds and one block. Jackson generated a 21-point, 14-rebound double-double that included one assist, three blocks and one steal. Andrew Nembhard furnished 14 points, eight assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block.
Johnny Davis paced the Wizards with 17 points, supplementing them with five boards, three assists and two steals. Patrick Baldwin, Jr. totaled 13 points, four rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal. Xavier Cooks and Ryan Rollins generated matching 11-point, two-assist contributions while recording seven and two rebounds, respectively.
The Wizards have a quick turnaround with a matchup against the Celtics on Sunday, while Indiana will face Orlando on Monday.
