Shaedon Sharpe (26 points) Highlights vs. Charlotte Hornets
Trail Blazers 97, Hornets 93: Box Score | Game Detail
Standout efforts from Shaedon Sharpe and rookie 23rd overall pick Kris Murray helped offset even more impressive performances from first-round selections Brandon Miller and Nick Smith Jr. to propel the Portland Trail Blazers to a narrow 97-93 win over the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Tuesday night.
A high-scoring first half culminated with the Trail Blazers holding a 53-48 lead, but the Hornets wiped out their modest deficit entirely during a third quarter in which they limited Portland to just 15 points. That set up an intriguing final period where the Blazers fought back to open up as much as an eight-point advantage on multiple occasions before Sharpe scored the team’s final six points to hold off a late Charlotte rally.
Sharpe led the Trail Blazers with 26 points, complementing them with four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Murray supplied 19 points and seven boards. Michael Devoe and Duop Reath generated matching 12-point efforts, with Devoe also dishing out seven assists and Reath tallying nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Jabari Walker supplied 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Smith paced the Hornets with 33 points, supplementing them with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Miller totaled 26 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Kai Jones registered 13 points, two boards, three blocks and two steals.
Both teams are back in action Thursday night, with the Hornets taking on the New Orleans Pelicans and the Trail Blazers facing the Orlando Magic.
