Warriors visit former president Barack Obama
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Golden State Warriors spent about an hour with former President Barack Obama.
The meeting occurred in Obama’s Washington office on Thursday, prior to the defending NBA champions defeating the Wizards 126-118.
Coach Steve Kerr and players were hesitant to discuss it.
A picture was uploaded on Instagram but has subsequently been removed.
Stephen Curry expressed uncertainty about the origin of the idea. Kevin Durant, an All-Star forward, found it amazing, while forward Draymond Green described it as a positive team meeting held privately.
In 2016, the Warriors celebrated their 2015 NBA championship with Obama at the White House.
President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he rescinded an invitation to the White House celebrating the team’s 2017 championship. This came after Curry and several other players declared they would not attend.
