F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix?

Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle. 

With Verstappen in the Red Bull and McLaren’s Norris joined by the Ferrari and Mercedes duos seemingly in the battle for pole, it was Verstappen and Norris who emerged from this pack as Norris secured that P1 grid slot for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

In his final run, Verstappen seemed to have secured the pole position after gaining a few more tenths. However, Norris delivered a 1:11.383, surpassing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton qualifying ahead of George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc outqualified his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite, Carlos Sainz, to secure a spot on the third row.

Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso fill out the top 10 for the grid of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Following his three-place grid penalty assigned in Canada, Sergio Perez will spearhead the effort to break into the top 10 and earn points. He will be joined on the sixth row by Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas.

Nico Hulkenberg of Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s team-mate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They will be ahead of Zhou Guanyu from the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB row nine, while Alex Albon from Williams and Logan Sargeant form the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. The team chose to change Albon’s Energy Store and Control Electronics, resulting in him dropping to the pit lane.
