#10 Florida State vs Georgia Tech Predictions
The Stank:
The Florida State Seminoles are heading into Week 0 with a goal of redemption after a successful season that ended in disappointment. Even though they won the ACC and remained undefeated, they were excluded from the College Football Playoffs. Now, they’re committed to demonstrating they earned a place.
Four starters on offense, four on defense, and two on special teams are returning to Florida State. These seasoned players, together with their teammates, are eager to prove their worth this season, rather than focusing on last year’s slight.

The Seminoles’ defensive line and secondary continue to be robust, with a formidable offensive line as well. Nonetheless, the key to their success this season, and particularly in this game, could be DJ Uiagalelei. His stint with Clemson had some difficulties, but he demonstrated early potential guiding the team to a win against Notre Dame as a freshman during Trevor Lawrence’s COVID absence. Despite his Clemson experience not being consistently remarkable, his single season at Oregon State was fruitful. He passed for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions, stats similar to his final 2022 season at Clemson, but achieved with 54 fewer attempts.
Despite being a middling team, Georgia Tech has raised concerns as they rank among the top ten for retaining players this season, including their starting quarterback, Haynes King. In a time when player transfers are commonplace, this stability hints towards a program that’s building something that the players trust — a critical aspect in sports. Though belief and confidence can pose a threat, I don’t foresee King steering Georgia Tech towards a surprising victory over the Seminoles.
Florida State is expected to overwhelmingly defeat Georgia Tech. I’m willing to take this risky stance in Week 0, but I would be more cautious if it were any other week.
