Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

After gaining some additional time in his final run, it seemed that Verstappen might secure the pole position. However, Norris surpassed him by a mere 0.02s with a time of 1:11.383, claiming the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton outqualifying George Russell for only the second time this season. In row three, Charles Leclerc will be ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite, Carlos Sainz.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Aston Martin team-mate of Alonso, will make up the seventh row, followed by Zhou Guanyu in the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo in the all-RB row nine for the Spanish Grand Prix, followed by Williams’ Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant who will essentially make up the back row. Albon was relegated to the pit lane after the team decided to replace his Energy Store and Control Electronics.
