Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Enters Hampton Heat at Langley Speedway
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. confirmed on social media Monday afternoon that he will compete in the Hampton Heat at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway on July 20.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee has competed in several Late Model Stock Car events in recent years, whether it be in the zMAX CARS Tour or at other short tracks such as Florence Motor Speedway. Earnhardt, Jr. will now tackle Langley Speedway for his next appearance in one of the discipline's marquee events.
The Hampton Heat began in 2008, and has since grown into one of the premier events for Late Model Stock Cars. Josh Berry won the event in 2021 competing for JR Motorsports. Brenden Queen won last year's running of the event.
The race is also part of the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown, alongside the Thunder Road Harley Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway and the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
Most recently, Earnhardt, Jr. competed in the CARS Tour event at New River All American Speedway in Jacksonville, North Carolina, finishing 14th. He also raced in the Icebreaker at Florence Motor Speedway in February, finishing fourth while JR Motorsports' Carson Kvapil scored the win.
2024 Daytona 500 winner William Byron will also make a special appearance in a JR Motorsports Late Model during July. Byron has entered the CARS Tour event on July 3 at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina.
