Aaron Willison is Latest Must See Sprint Series Entrant for Lancaster
Defending Open Wheel Showdown winner Aaron Willison is the latest entrant to compete in the Must See Racing Sprint Series Presented by Perfit-Parts first-ever appearance at Lancaster Motorplex in Lancaster, New York this Saturday June 1.
The British Columbia, Canada driver will be making only his second appearance on the East Coast. He gained national attention with his $50,000 win in the inaugural Open Wheel Showdown in Las Vegas last December. His success in that event led him to an invite in the Children’s Dream Fund 50 at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida in early March. He found himself with a podium finish in the MSR co-sanctioned event with the Southern Sprint Car Shootout Series.

Willison will be behind the wheel of the Dick Myers- owned #50m. This car is the oldest and winningest pavement sprint car currently in competition. Jason Blonde wheeled the car to quick time at the Open Wheel Showdown in December. Willison and Myers could be a deadly duo when they unite for this weekend’s event.
Willison explained the deal to drive for Myers came together quickly.
“It was all pretty last minute. I got a call Sunday morning from Jim Hanks from Must See Racing. I had just finished watching the Monaco Grand Prix and was getting primed up to watch the Indy 500. He said I got an opportunity for you. He said there’s a pretty good car out here needing a driver. I’d like to get the car, and you up to our event in New York this weekend. I’d like to thank Jim Hanks for putting me in touch with Dick Myers and making this deal happen.”
I’m really happy about this weekend because it’s a chance to get out and do some half-mile racing. We don’t have a lot of opportunities to get out on a big track up in our end of town. So, to go and do some half-mile racing is fun. I’m really looking forward to it.
This will be Willison’s first-ever appearance at a MSR points paying event. Willson is a regular with the Northwest Sprint Tour in the Southwest part of Canada.
“This a great opportunity for me to come to the Midwest and run with Must See in their back yard. We all met in Las Vegas last year, but it was neutral ground for everybody. It will be fun to go run with the Must See guys in their own ball field.”
“If you’re gonna be successful in this game, you gotta pay attention to the cars and people around you. I try to keep an eye on people, cars, and how they operate. I’m very familiar with the Dick Myers owned car and what I’m getting myself into”.
MSR regular and fellow Canadian Ryan Litt will now have another Canadian driver to square off against this weekend. The two met for the first time in Las Vegas last December. “I just sent him a text message after I agreed to race this weekend. I was trying to hitch a ride back to the Toronto airport. I’ve blown my cover already I guess,” laughed Willison.
Willison plans to take in a few sights this weekend in addition to his racing responsibilities. “I may make it a point to blast over to Niagara Falls. It’s not often that we’re at this end of town. It will be fun to see a little bit of the Northeast. I’m really looking forward to this weekend” concluded Willison.
