Jake Sessoms Takes Blue Ridge Win At Lake View Finale
LAKE VIEW, SC (November 20) – Stanley, NC’s Jay Sessoms started from the pole and led every lap to win the Steve Heintz Memorial for the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models Saturday night at Lake View Motor Speedway.
After setting fast time with a lap of 16.531 seconds and winning his heat race, Sessoms jumped out to the lead at the start over Robbie Bailey. Bailey’s time up front would not last long as a mechanical problem ended his night on lap four. After struggling through his heat race, Christian Thomas quickly made his way into the top five. Matthew Nance would mount the most serious challenge to Sessoms’ lead but could not get any closer than a car length or two behind. Sessoms dominated to take the win over Nance, Thomas, Dylan Watson, and Greg Clark. Rounding out the top 10 were Justin Sims, Mark Dysart, Scott Shirey, Chuck Smith, and Josh Harris.
The American Racer 602 Modifieds made their first trip to Lake View and Bobby Jones ended a dominant night in victory lane. The only major incident of the race occurred when Ricky Chavis spun in turn one on the opening lap and collected Jackie Gerald, Colton Beasley, and Tyler Davis. Following Jones to the checkered flag were Billy Thompson, Cameron Norris, IV, Grayson Wells, and Chris Stowe.
Cameron Holloway checked out on the rest of the field to score another Street Stock win. The race began when Darryl Moran spun off the front bumper of Chris Player in turn one. Dalton Coursey found himself in second until he spun in turn two on lap four. Moran and Player were making their way back to the front until being collected in an accident with four laps to go when Joey Wilkes got crossed up in turn two. Following Holloway at the finish were Tyler Doyle, Michael Butler, Wilkes, and Coursey.
After losing the lead on the initial start to Tom Lovett, Rocky Gasque grabbed the lead back when Lovett had a mechanical problem with seven laps to go and led the rest of the way for another Stock V8 win. Ed Mason brought out the first caution of the race when he spun in turn one on the first lap. Behind Gasque at the finish were Jason Floyd, Scott Lewis. Jaden Locklear, and Blaise Bryant.
Jason Brown led every lap to win the SCDRA Morrisonbuilt Performance Sport Compact race. Following him to the finish line were former track champions Kyle Jenks and Derek Kemper, along with Troy Hill and Allen Ridgeway.
The Bell & Bell Vintage cars were in action as well with Michael Fulwood and Nathan Swann taking the Pro Modified and Modified wins, Zach Harris the Sportsman win, Bobby Kellum in Seniors, and Craig Jordan in 6-Cylinders. Candice Ward was the winner in the Jr. Mini Sprints.
