F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, many things were yet to be determined as the qualifying round approached with wet conditions at Silverstone.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres. The circuit was partially sunny, but dark clouds loomed ominously over another part, indicating a possible threat of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to hastily queue up to set lap times on the track. As the track started to dry up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

The intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons, Williams’ Alex Albon, and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Despite sustaining damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, Max Verstappen was still able to continue.

In Q3’s first runs, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, dominated the top three. However, with another run still to come at Silverstone, this could all change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, yet Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s quicker lap to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. In addition, he contributed to an all-British top trio for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
