F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was known that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, many uncertainties remained leading into qualifying, particularly with the wet conditions at Silverstone.

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres. There were contrasting weather conditions with the sun shining on one part of the track, while dark clouds loomed elsewhere threatening rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to opt for slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to quickly line up to return to the track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This paved the way for an exciting Q3 session, with both Aston cars, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Nico Hulkenberg of Haas making it into the top 10. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continued despite carrying damage from his earlier trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.
In Q3’s first runs, an all-British top-three emerged with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton leading. However, with another run pending at Silverstone, the standings could potentially change.
Norris was forced to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton, securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
