F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with the wet conditions at Silverstone, many decisions were still to be made heading into qualifying.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter kicked off with drivers on intermediate tyres, amid fluctuating weather conditions – sunshine over one part of the circuit and impending rain under dark clouds on another. Valtteri Bottas was the first to hit the track on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to quickly line up and get back on track to set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This led to an interesting Q3 session. Both Astons, the Williams of Alex Albon, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg made it into the top 10. Max Verstappen, despite damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.
In Q3’s first runs at Silverstone, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, made up the top three. However, with another run still to happen, this could all change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s quicker lap and secured his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
