F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was clear that Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, as the qualifying round approached with wet conditions at Silverstone, many decisions were still up in the air.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter started with the drivers using intermediate tyres. The circuit was half bathed in sunlight, and the other half was under threatening dark clouds indicating possible rain. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to drivers hurrying to set their lap times on the track. Due to the track drying up, Perez quickly found himself at the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, alongside Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continued despite sustaining damage after his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.

George Russell, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, all British, were the top three in the first runs in Q3 at Silverstone. However, there is another run left, which could change everything.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell successfully fended off a quicker lap from Hamilton. This allowed him to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone, creating an all-British top three for the upcoming Sunday race at Silverstone.
