F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there was still a lot to determine heading into the qualifying round.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The start of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunshine over part of the circuit and looming dark clouds elsewhere indicating potential rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain towards the end of Q1 led the drivers to quickly queue to get back on track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen was also there, despite carrying damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but he was able to continue.
The first runs in Q3 at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s still another run to go where this could all change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, yet Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s quicker lap and secured his first ever home pole at Silverstone. He also led an entirely British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
