F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting at the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, much remained uncertain as we headed into qualifying.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, as the circuit was partially sunlit and partially overshadowed by dark clouds that hinted at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

Threats of additional rain towards the end of Q1 led the drivers to rush back on the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. Perez, however, fell to the back of the field due to the drying up of the track.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up, featuring both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams, all of whom made it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also advanced, despite Max Verstappen carrying damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1. However, Verstappen managed to continue.

The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three lineup with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, another run is still in play, which could change the rankings.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also helped achieve an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
