F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the F1 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after qualifying.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session started, it was established that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there were many uncertainties going into the qualifying round.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, under a partially sunny sky with dark clouds looming in other parts of the circuit, indicating possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of additional rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to rush onto the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the rear of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up, which included both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams who had all made it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. However, Max Verstappen was dealing with damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but he was able to continue.

In Q3’s first runs at Silverstone, an all-British top three emerged with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton leading. However, with another run still to come, these standings could easily change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a speedier lap from Hamilton, thus securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three at Silverstone for the race on Sunday.
