F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, the wet conditions at Silverstone meant that much was still to be determined heading into the qualifying round.

The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with a sunny section of the circuit in stark contrast to another part overshadowed by dark clouds, indicating potential rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
As Q1 was ending, there was a threat of more rain. This caused the drivers to rush to the track to set lap times as swiftly as possible. Due to the track drying up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
An intriguing Q3 session was set up, featuring both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams, who all made it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also made it through, while Max Verstappen managed to continue despite carrying damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.
The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone saw George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, in the top three positions. However, with another round yet to come, this could all change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
