F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Ahead of the session, it was already confirmed that Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would start from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there were still many decisions to be made heading into the qualifying round.

The first quarter began with the drivers on intermediate tyres. The sun was shining over part of the circuit, while dark clouds hovered over other parts, indicating a potential rainfall. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain towards the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to rush onto the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. However, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the rear of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
An intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it into the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also made it through. Despite suffering damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, Max Verstappen was able to continue.
George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, were the top three in the initial runs of Q3. However, with another run yet to take place at Silverstone, this could change.
Norris had to withdraw from his final lap, but Russell successfully defended a quicker lap from Hamilton. This allowed Russell to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. Additionally, it resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
