F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for the F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was clear that Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with the wet conditions at Silverstone, a significant amount of decisions were yet to be made going into qualifying.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The start of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunshine over part of the circuit and ominous dark clouds elsewhere hinting at potential rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain towards the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to scramble onto the track as quickly as possible to set lap times. The drying track, however, quickly resulted in Perez falling to the rear of the pack.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
An intriguing Q3 session was set up, with both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Max Verstappen, despite carrying damage from his own trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was also able to continue.
The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone witnessed an all-British top three featuring George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s another run to come that could potentially alter this standing.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to surpass Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. In addition, an all-British top three will be taking part in Silverstone’s Sunday race.
