Xavier Tillman and Ziaire Williams combined for 31 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 103-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in a Salt Lake City Summer League matchup Tuesday.
The Grizzlies, who had five players score in double-figures, hit the ground running early by jumping out to a 34-28 lead through one quarter. Memphis expanded its advantage to eight points over the 76ers by halftime, but Philadelphia managed to shave three points from its deficit heading into the final period.
The Sixers, led by standout efforts from Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed, ultimately got as close as two points on multiple occasions – the last with just 1:24 remaining. However, Williams sank a pair of key free throws to seal the victory.
Tillman led the Grizzlies with 16 points, adding four assists, three rebounds and one block. Williams, a lottery pick in 2021, added 15 points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals. Jake LaRavia and Santi Aldama finished with matching 13-point, two-assist efforts while pulling down four and three rebounds, respectively. Dakota Mathias paced the second unit with 10 points, supplementing them with three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block.
Reed paced the 76ers with a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double that included four steals and one assist. Joe delivered 19 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block. Charlie Brown, Jr. and Jaden Springer generated matching 15-point tallies, two-assist tallies, with Brown also recording seven rebounds and two steals. Grant Riller poured in 12 points.
Both teams will be back in action Wednesday. The Grizzlies face the Thunder and the 76ers take on the Jazz at Vivint Arena.
