Celtics' Jaylen Brown sidelined with right adductor strain
Jaylen Brown will need time to recover from a right adductor strain.
Celtics guard Jaylen Brown did not play in Boston’s 109-98 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday due to right adductor tightness. He may not return to the court for another “week or two,” per Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla.
Brown was ruled out roughly 90 minutes before tip. Fellow starter Al Horford was also out Thursday with lower back stiffness.
Halfway through the NBA season, Brown is averaging a career-high 27.2 points and making nearly half (49.8%) of his shots from the field. He scored a season-high 41 points in a win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
The Celtics play eight games over the next two weeks, six of which are on the road.
The Nets lost their first game since losing Kevin Durant to a sprained knee ligament. Veteran swingman Joe Harris started in Durant’s place, scoring 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting.
The game matched the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. Boston (31-12) has a 3-game lead for first place after winning five straight games, including Thursday’s win over second-plae Brooklyn (27-14).
