10 Things to Know About Montgomery's Saturday of Speed

– Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) is set to host the next leg of the Show Me The Money Series this coming Saturday. This is one of the longest running Pro Late Model Series in the country and has been the marquee events of Montgomery for several seasons now.

– The half-mile track is a fast venue for the Pro Late Models, as people search for the best way around the track to save their tires for the late stages. The half-mile was built in 1953. The track was dirt for the first three years before asphalt was laid down in 1956.

– Jake Garcia is the points leader in the Show Me The Money Series after a win, a third and fourth-place finish in the three races this season. Garcia won six times in the last two seasons in 12 events, but is still seeking his first Show Me the Money title.

– The Show Me The Money Series started in 2009 when Augie Grill was the series champion. Grill would win a second title in 2019. He, along with Hunter Robbins, John Bolen, Casey Roderick, and Christopher Tullis all have won two championships in the series. No driver has won three titles yet. Christopher Tullis and John Bolen could be in line to win a third title.

– This season, Jake Garcia has won a race and Hunter Robbins won the other two races. Although Robbins could have a mathematical shot at the title, in reality he would be just racing for a trophy.

– After this race, the Pro Late Models will run again on September 3rd for the Fall Brawl 100 and then again on November 5th for the Southern 100. The Modifieds of Mayhem will join the Pro Late Models for these two events, but they are not racing this weekend.

– A twin bill for the Street Stocks at 30-laps is scheduled. A School Bus race and a Street Car Burnout Contest will be a part of the undercard this weekend.

– Nearly 20 drivers are expected, if not more, for the Pro Late Model portion of the weekend. Justin South, Christopher Tullis, John Bolen, Justin Bonnett, Clint King, Jim Wall, JoJo Wilkinson, Gio Ruggiero and several others are on the pre-race entry list.

– This will be the 68th race in the history of the series, with Augie Grill having the most wins with 15.
