HBCU Student Showcase: Michaela Packer

“Chosen One”
Artwork Theme: HBCU Experience & Pride
Michaela wanted to show that little black girls’ and boys’ dreams do come true. Her
depiction shows the kind of people HBCUs help mold and the success stories that come
from each one. She wanted to represent herself, as well as other women of color. It’s a
blessing to be given a platform where HBCU student’s talents are being recognized and
celebrated. A lot of people are afraid to take that next step but that could be the one
obstacle between them and success. The sky is the limit when it comes to your own
journey.

Michaela Packer was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She began drawing at a very young age, but never truly recognized her talents. As a little girl, Michaela was very shy and quirky. She always knew that she possessed certain talents, but never took them seriously. Never did she imagine that she would attending an HBCU, let alone cheer as a collegiate athlete. Now, she uses art as her voice. Michaela plans to expand her social media presence across all platforms with her art, as a content creator. Becoming a creative director is her ultimate goal.
