Fisher Jr. Makes it Two in a Row at IRP After Winning the Fireball Whiskey Circle City 100
Salem, IN (July 31, 2022) – Fort Wayne, Indiana racer Terry Fisher Jr. took care of business Saturday night in winning the Fireball Whisky Circle City 100 with the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Fisher Jr. grabbed the early lead, then fought back from losing the lead to Brett Hudson, to repass Hudson and go on to get the win, his second in a row with the series at IRP after also winning last year's series event at Fall Brawl in October.
“This place is definitely one of my favorite tracks to race at,” remarked Fisher Jr. in victory lane. “This place just really works for my style of racing. I’ve been fortunate to win several races here and now I have two in a row in this Street Stock. I want to thank Kenneth Young for letting me race this car. Everyone on our team worked really hard today and it paid off. You couldn’t ask for a tougher group of guys to race against then what was here tonight, I’m just the fortunate one to be sitting here in victory lane!”
Fisher Jr. took full advantage of his pole starting position after Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Jason Atkinson drew a five for the inverted start of the third event of the Cowboy, Come! Canning & Distillery Four Crown mini-series, grabbing the lead from Hudson at the drop of the green flag.
Fisher Jr. paced the early laps, pulling out to a sizable lead when the yellow flew on lap 36 when part of the track’s lights went out in turn one.
Fisher Jr. would continue to lead when the field went back green on lap 42, but the caution flew again with a big wreck in turn four involving five cars. Teams would then pit for the 10 minute halfway break to add fuel and make adjustments.
Fisher got the lead back when the race resumed on lap 46 with Hudson side by side. Hudson would complete the pass and grab the lead on lap 47. Hudson would keep the lead with Fisher Jr. staying right behind Hudson, waiting for an opportunity to get the lead back.
Fisher Jr. would make his move on lap 62, passing Hudson to retake the lead. Fisher Jr. would then pull away and looked to have the win when a late caution flew on lap 83 for the spinning 88 car.
Fisher Jr. would hold off Hudson and a hard charging Alan Williams Jr. to hold on to the lead on the restart. Williams would pass Hudson and move into second and started to reel in Fisher. Williams would run out of laps as Fisher got the win by just over a second over Williams Jr.
The win was Fisher Jr.’s third all-time series win and his first ever Cowboy, Come! Canning & Distillery Four Crown mini-series win. Fisher picked up the $3,000 winners’ purse plus the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award for his winning pass to retake the lead. Fisher Jr. also earned one of the coveted Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing specially designed buckles given to each Four Crown event winner and to the Four Crown Champion.
The second-place finish was Williams Jr.’s best series finish ever. With the second-place finish Williams is now in a first-place tie with Ryan Amonett for the Cowboy, Come! Canning & Distillery Four Crown mini-series points lead heading into the mini-series Championship race on August 13th.
Hudson would finish in third, he is now in third place in the Cowboy, Come! Canning & Distillery Four Crown mini-series points, five points behind Williams Jr. and Amonett.
Austin Coe would battle from his 10th place starting position to finish in fourth in his first series start since the 2017 season.
Amonett would finish in fifth place from his 18th place starting position, putting himself in a tie with Williams for the Cowboy, Come! Canning & Distillery Four Crown mini-series points lead.
