NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: March 12
Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis has scored at least 49 DraftKings fantasy points in 22 of his last 25 games.
We have less than a month remaining, and it’s tough to navigate these DFS waters with so much going on. That’s why we provide this article, though, because we want to make things easier for you! With that in mind, let’s look at this Tuesday card!
Core Plays
Domantas Sabonis (PF/C – SAC): $10,400 DraftKings, $11,100 FanDuel
Sabonis has scored at least 49 DraftKings points in 22 of his last 25 games, averaging 19.9 points, 14.9 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game in that span. Those triple-double averages are absurd, and another one could be in play against a 19th-ranked Milwaukee defense. In their last matchup, Domas dropped 67 DK points in yet another triple-double.
Chet Holmgren (PF/C – OKC): $7,500 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel
Holmgren is no joke, averaging nearly 40 DraftKings points per game. He’s also scored at least 41 DK points 27 times this season and should have another one of those ceiling games against Indiana. Not only do the Pacers play at the fastest pace in the NBA, but they also rank 26th in defensive efficiency and 29th in points allowed.
Cash Game Considerations
Giannis Antetokounmpo (PF/C – MIL): $11,500 DraftKings, $11,900 FanDuel
Antetokounmpo has averaged over 60 DraftKings points per game over the last two months, establishing a 50-point floor. That’s no surprise since he’s being asked to do more in Khris Middleton’s absence, and we love the matchup with the Kings. Sacramento sits 23rd in total defense, with Giannis recording a triple-double against them just a month ago.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (PG/SG – OKC): $10,500 DraftKings, $11,300 FanDuel
SGA is averaging 56 DraftKings points per game. He’s also scored at least 38 DraftKings points in all but two outings this year, dropping 59 and 70 fantasy points over the last week. We already discussed the blistering pace at which the Pacers play, posting a 25th OPRK against opposing guards. The last time they played, SGA scored nearly 60 fantasy points!
Josh Hart (SF/PF – NYK): $7,200 DraftKings, $7,300 FanDuel
It’s hard to fade a player who will play 40-45 minutes a night. That’s what Hart is doing for this shorthanded Knicks team, averaging 42 minutes a game over the last two weeks. That’s led to Hart scoring at least 34 DraftKings points in eight of his last nine games, generating a 42-point average in that span. The Sixers used to be a scary matchup, but this has been one of the worst defenses in the NBA since Joel Embiid got injured.
GPP Targets
Jordan Poole (PG/SG – WAS): $6,700 DraftKings, $6,700 FanDuel
Poole really struggled through the opening months of the year, but things have changed since he was demoted to the bench. That demotion has skyrocketed his role, posting a 33% usage rate since the shift to the pine. That bump in usage has led to Poole averaging over 35 DraftKings points per game in this newfound role. A matchup with Memphis only adds to his intrigue because the Grizzlies are missing most of their rotation.
Santi Aldama (PF/C – MEM): $6,100 DraftKings, $6,000 FanDuel
We just mentioned how shorthanded the Grizzlies are, forcing Aldama into a 35-minute role as the starting power forward. That expanded opportunity has led to Aldama averaging 32 DK points per game across his last five fixtures. That’s a tremendous total from such an affordable player, and his 35 minutes could be a floor when looking at the injury report for this roster. Facing Washington is the best part because the Wizards rank last in points allowed and defensive efficiency.
Kyle Anderson (SF/PF – MIN): $5,400 DraftKings, $5,600 FanDuel
The Timberwolves will have trouble filling the void that Karl-Anthony Towns left behind, but Anderson’s stat-stuffing should help fill part of that void. In the 38 games that KA played 30 minutes last season, he averaged over 35 DraftKings points per game. You can’t find anything close to that from a player in this price range, and it’s a great time to capitalize when this price is at its lowest. Two of those 30-minute games happened against LA, with Anderson averaging 31 DK points per game in their three matchups last year.
Value Plays
Fred VanVleet (PG – HOU): $7,900 DraftKings, $8,000 FanDuel
It’s hard to understand why FVV remains this cheap. The former All-Star has revived his season in the second half, scoring at least 38 DraftKings points in six straight fixtures. He also has at least 52 fantasy points in two of those and should slice through San Antonio with Sengun sidelined. The Spurs are surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing point guards, with FVV scoring at least 52 fantasy points in two of their three matchups this year.
Tre Jones (PG – SAS): $5,600 DraftKings, $5,600 FanDuel
Jones has taken over as San Antonio’s starting point guard, but he’s not being priced like that. The young guard has provided a 25-point floor in this newfound role, averaging 30 DK points per game. He’s done that with minimal scoring and always had success against Houston. He had at least 35 DK points in two of their three matchups last year, and Jones always seems to do better when Wembanyama is in the lineup.
