F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session began, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with the wet conditions at Silverstone, there were still many uncertainties heading into the qualifying round.

The first quarter began with the drivers on intermediate tyres, as the sun shone over one part of the circuit and dark clouds loomed in other parts, indicating a lingering threat of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the initial driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain towards the end of Q1 led the drivers to quickly queue up to set their lap times on the track. Due to the track drying up, Perez swiftly fell to the rear of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

The intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Williams’ Alex Albon making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was dealing with damage from his own trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but was still able to continue.

In Q3’s first runs, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British racers, took the top three spots. However, with another run remaining at Silverstone, these standings could still change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell fended off a quicker lap from Hamilton to boost his position and secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
