F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Prior to the session, it was established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there was still much to determine heading into the qualifying round.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, under a partly sunny sky with dark clouds looming in parts, indicating possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first to hit the track using slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 resulted in drivers rushing to get out on the track to set lap times. However, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This initiated a compelling Q3 session, which saw both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also made it through. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was dealing with damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but managed to continue.

In Q3’s first runs, the top three were all British – George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, this could change at Silverstone as there is another run to come for all.

Russell managed to resist a quicker lap from Hamilton and improve his own performance to secure his first ever home pole at Silverstone. Norris had to drop out of his final lap. This resulted in an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
