F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been determined after the F1 qualifying round.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session began, it was already established that Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would be starting from the rear of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, the wet conditions at Silverstone meant there was still much to determine in the qualifying round.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The beginning of Q1 saw drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunlight illuminating one section of the circuit and heavy clouds looming elsewhere, indicating the potential of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the initial driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 made the drivers rush to get back on track and set lap times as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
The setup led to an interesting Q3 session, as both Astons, Williams’ Alex Albon, and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg made it to the top 10. Despite Max Verstappen’s vehicle damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, he was able to continue.
In Q3, the first runs witnessed an entirely British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, the standings could change as there is another run pending for all at Silverstone.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton. This enabled him to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three at Silverstone for the race on Sunday.
