F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after F1 qualifying.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Prior to the session, it was established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there was still much to determine heading into qualifying.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, as sunshine bathed one part of the track while ominous clouds loomed elsewhere, signifying a potential threat of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the pioneer among the drivers to switch to slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to hastily queue up to set lap times on the track. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This led to a captivating Q3 session, with both Aston Martin cars and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also advanced, while Max Verstappen, despite sustaining damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, managed to continue.
The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone featured an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, another run still remains which could potentially change the rankings.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap to better his position and secure his first ever home pole at Silverstone. This also led to an all-British top three lineup for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
