F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session commenced, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting at the end of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with the wet conditions at Silverstone, many decisions remained uncertain going into qualifying.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter began with drivers on intermediate tyres, under a sky split between sunshine and looming dark clouds, signifying a potential rain threat. Valtteri Bottas was the pioneer to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to the drivers rushing to get back on track to set lap times as quickly as possible. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the pack.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen, despite sustaining damage from his own gravel trip at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.
In Q3’s initial runs, an all-British trio consisting of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton took the lead. However, with another run still to happen at Silverstone, this could all change.
Norris had to bow out of his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton to enhance his position and secure his maiden home pole at Silverstone. This achievement resulted in an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
