F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Heading into the qualifying round at Silverstone, there was much to be decided due to the wet conditions. However, it was already determined before the session that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunlight shining on one part of the circuit while dark clouds loomed elsewhere, hinting at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
Threats of additional rain at the end of Q1 led to the drivers hastily lining up to return to the track and set lap times. Due to the track drying up, Perez swiftly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This created an interesting Q3 session, with both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen managed to continue despite sustaining damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.
In Q3’s first runs, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British drivers, made up the top three. However, at Silverstone, there’s another run coming up where this could all change.
Norris was forced to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap, thereby securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
