F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Prior to the session, it was clear that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, there was a great deal of uncertainty going into the qualifying round due to the wet conditions at Silverstone.

The commencement of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with the sun shining on one section of the circuit and ominous dark clouds looming elsewhere, suggesting the possibility of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the initial driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to quickly line up to return to the track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez swiftly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An interesting Q3 session was set up, with both Aston cars, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Despite sustaining damage after sliding into the gravel at Copse in Q1, Max Verstappen was able to continue.

In Q3, the first runs witnessed an all-British top three that featured George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, with another run scheduled at Silverstone, this could potentially change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton and improve his performance, securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. In addition, this resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
