F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, the qualifying round at Silverstone, under wet conditions, still had many outcomes to be determined.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, under a partly sunny sky with dark clouds looming in other parts, suggesting the possibility of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out using slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to quickly line up to get back on track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was established, with both Astons and Williams’ Alex Albon making it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also made it through, while Max Verstappen, despite damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.

In Q3, the first runs resulted in a top three all-British ranking of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, with another run scheduled at Silverstone, this could change.

Norris had to exit his final lap prematurely, but Russell managed to improve his performance and secure his first-ever pole position at Silverstone. He also succeeded in holding back Hamilton, who had a faster lap. This resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
