F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying round.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Going into the session, it was known that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, many decisions were still to be made during qualifying, especially considering the wet conditions at Silverstone.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, as the sun shone over a section of the circuit while dark clouds loomed in other areas, hinting at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the inaugural driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to drivers rushing to get back on the track as quickly as possible in order to set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
An intriguing Q3 session was set up, with both Aston Martins and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10. Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg also made it through. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen sustained damage after a trip to the gravel at Copse during Q1, but he was able to continue.
In Q3, the first runs resulted in an all-British top three featuring George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s another run at Silverstone which could potentially change the rankings.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to withstand a swifter lap from Hamilton. This allowed him to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone, as well as ensuring an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
