F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would start from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there was still a lot to determine heading into qualifying.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, with sunlight illuminating one area of the circuit and the looming threat of rain indicated by dark clouds elsewhere. Valtteri Bottas was the first to drive on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to rush onto the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. Due to the track drying up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This paved the way for an intriguing Q3 session, with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen sustained damage following his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but he was able to continue.

The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone witnessed an all-British top three consisting of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, another run could potentially alter this lineup.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three for the race at Silverstone on Sunday.
