F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying rounds.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session began, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, many decisions were yet to be made heading into qualifying, especially with the wet conditions at Silverstone.

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, while the sun shone over one part of the circuit and dark clouds loomed in other areas, indicating a possible rain threat. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to use slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 made the drivers rush to get back on the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. However, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the line.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This led to an interesting Q3 session, with both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was dealing with damage from his own excursion to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but he managed to continue.

In Q3, the initial runs resulted in an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton leading. However, another run at Silverstone could change everything.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to maintain a faster lap than Hamilton to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. This achievement also marked an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
