F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session started, it was confirmed that Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would start from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, many uncertainties remained as we headed into qualifying, particularly due to the wet conditions at Silverstone.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, as the circuit was partly sunny and partly obscured by dark clouds hinting at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to drivers hastily lining up to return to the track and set lap times. However, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This setup led to an interesting Q3 session. Both Astons and Williams’ Alex Albon had successfully made it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen had suffered damage after his trip to the gravel at Copse during Q1, but he was still able to continue.
The initial races in Q3 at Silverstone witnessed an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, but there’s still another run which could change the standings.
Norris was forced to abandon his final lap, but Russell was able to maintain his lead from Hamilton’s quicker lap. This marked Russell’s first ever pole position at his home track, Silverstone, setting up an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
