F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds, the starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session started, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, there were still many uncertainties leading up to qualifying due to the wet conditions at Silverstone.

The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunlight illuminating one part of the circuit and dark clouds menacingly looming over other parts, hinting at the possibility of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the initial driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 caused the drivers to quickly line up to get back on the track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez swiftly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This set the stage for an interesting Q3 session, as both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams made it to the top 10, along with Haas’s driver Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continued despite sustaining damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.

In Q3, the initial runs resulted in an all-British top three, featuring George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s still another run at Silverstone that could potentially disrupt these standings.

Norris had to withdraw from his final lap. However, Russell improved his time, fending off Hamilton’s faster lap. This achievement secured him his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. Furthermore, it resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
