F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying rounds.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Prior to the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, there were still many decisions to be made going into qualifying, especially considering the wet conditions at Silverstone.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The commencement of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunlight illuminating one section of the circuit while ominous clouds loomed over the other, hinting at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first to take to the circuit on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

Threats of more rain at the end of Q1 resulted in drivers rushing to set lap times on the track. However, as the track began to dry, Perez quickly fell to the bottom of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen, despite carrying damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was also able to continue.

The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton leading, but another run could potentially change the standings.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, while Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s faster lap and secure his first ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
