F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying round.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, the qualifying round at Silverstone still had many uncertainties due to the wet conditions.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with drivers using intermediate tyres. The weather was a mix of sunshine in some parts of the circuit and impending rain in others due to the dark clouds overhead. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to take the track with slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

Threats of more rain at the end of Q1 caused the drivers to rush onto the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. As the track dried up, Perez swiftly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This led to an intriguing Q3 session, with both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Despite carrying damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, Max Verstappen was still able to continue.

The initial runs in Q3 resulted in an all-British top three consisting of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s another run at Silverstone where everything could change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
