F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session commenced, it was established that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, the qualifying outcomes were still uncertain due to wet conditions at Silverstone.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with drivers using intermediate tyres, as the sun shone over a portion of the circuit while dark clouds loomed elsewhere suggesting possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

Threats of more rain were looming at the end of Q1, prompting the drivers to quickly line up to return to the track and set lap times. As the track began to dry up, Perez swiftly fell to the rear of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

This intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Williams’ Alex Albon making it to the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen, despite carrying damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.

The initial races in Q3 at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton leading the pack. However, there’s still another run to go, and the rankings can change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to resist a speedier lap from Hamilton, securing his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three at Silverstone for the upcoming Sunday’s race.
