F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Prior to the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, much was still to be determined going into the qualifying round.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, while the sun shone over one part of the circuit and dark clouds loomed elsewhere, indicating possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to rush out onto the track to set lap times as quickly as possible. However, the drying track caused Perez to swiftly fall to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

Both Astons, the Williams of Alex Albon, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg made it to the top 10, setting the stage for an intriguing Q3 session. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continued to compete despite damage from a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1.

During the first runs in Q3 at Silverstone, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, dominated the top three. However, with another run still to come, the rankings could potentially change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, while Russell successfully resisted a quicker lap from Hamilton, securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
