F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session began, it was already established that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would start from the end of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, a lot still remained to be settled in the qualifying round under the wet conditions at Silverstone.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, under a sky divided between sunshine over one part of the circuit and dark, threatening rain clouds elsewhere. Valtteri Bottas was the pioneer, being the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to the drivers quickly lining up to set lap times on the track. However, as the track dried up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was established, with both Astons, Williams’ Alex Albon, and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Max Verstappen, despite carrying damage from his own detour into the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.

The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone saw an all-British top three line-up of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, with another run still to come, this could change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
