F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session began, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, there were still many decisions to be made heading into qualifying.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, as the circuit was partially sunlit and partially under dark clouds, indicating possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of additional rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to hastily queue to get back on the track and set lap times. However, as the track started to dry, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up, featuring both Astons, Williams’ Alex Albon who made it to the top 10, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen also participated, despite carrying damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, but he was able to continue.

In Q3, the first runs resulted in an all-British top three featuring George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there’s another run at Silverstone where everything could change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, yet Russell managed to resist a quicker lap from Hamilton. This improved his position, claiming his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. He also contributed to the achievement of an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
