F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was already confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, the qualifying round at Silverstone, under wet conditions, still had numerous outcomes to be determined.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, with sunlight covering a portion of the circuit and ominous clouds looming in other parts, suggesting a possible rain threat. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
Threats of more rain towards the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to quickly line up to return to the track and set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez swiftly found himself at the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This led to a fascinating Q3 session, with both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg making it to the top 10. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was dealing with damage from his own trip to the Copse gravel in Q1, but was able to continue.
George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, made up the top three in the first runs of Q3 at Silverstone. However, with another run yet to come, this could all change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, while Russell managed to outpace Hamilton’s faster lap to secure his first ever pole position at his home ground of Silverstone. This also led to an all-British top three at Silverstone for the race on Sunday.
