F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the F1 starting grid has been established.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Prior to the session, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start from the rear of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, many decisions were yet to be made as we headed into qualifying.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The beginning of Q1 saw drivers with intermediate tyres, as the sun shone over one section of the circuit while dark clouds threatened rain elsewhere. Valtteri Bottas was the first to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to rush onto the track to set lap times as swiftly as possible. As the track dried up, Perez fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

Both Astons, the Williams of Alex Albon, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg made it to the top 10, setting up an intriguing Q3 session. Despite damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, Max Verstappen was able to continue.

In Q3’s first runs, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, all British, topped the chart. However, this could change at Silverstone as another run awaits.

Norris was forced to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton, securing his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. This also resulted in an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
