F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying round.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, many things were yet to be determined going into the qualifying, particularly with the wet conditions at Silverstone.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The commencement of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, as the sun shone over a section of the circuit while dark clouds loomed elsewhere, indicating the possibility of rain. Valtteri Bottas was the pioneer to take to the track on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
Threats of additional rain towards the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to swiftly return to the track and set lap times. The drying track, however, resulted in Perez quickly falling to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This created a fascinating Q3 session including both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg, who all made it to the top 10. Max Verstappen, despite damage from his Q1 gravel trip at Copse, managed to continue.
The initial Q3 runs at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three – George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there was another run scheduled, and the standings could potentially change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, yet Russell managed to outpace Hamilton and secure his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three in Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
