F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session, it was established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would start at the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, with wet conditions at Silverstone, much was still left to be determined as we headed into qualifying.

The first quarter began with the drivers using intermediate tyres, as the weather was unpredictable with the sun shining over one part of the circuit and dark clouds looming over the other, indicating possible rainfall. Valtteri Bottas, however, was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
Threats of more rain at the end of Q1 resulted in drivers hurrying to get back on track to set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez rapidly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
An intriguing Q3 session was set up, with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it into the top 10, along with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen, despite sustaining damage after a trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue competing.
The initial runs in Q3 resulted in an all-British top three of George Russell, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone. However, with another run remaining, this could change.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to thwart Hamilton’s faster lap in order to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. In addition, this achievement set up an all-British top three at Silverstone for Sunday’s race.
